Yesterday, The Iron Yard announced that at the end of our current round of courses, the company will be closing their doors. Having guided four incredible cohorts through their journeys into the world of design and tech over the past year, I am more proud than ever of the work that this team and company has accomplished.
Teaching is something that I have been been passionate about and involved with for many many years, both formally and informally. My time at The Iron Yard provided a unique space where both my students and myself could dedicate all of our working hours to fostering an environment of learning, collaboration, and education. Over the past year, I have grown immeasurably as a designer, educator, and teammate, and am so sad to see it end, but am looking forward to seeing what the next chapter brings.
To my students both current and former, thank you for trusting me to teach you and learn with you. To my wonderful wonderful teammates, thank you for being relentlessly dedicated and passionate about the work that we do. And to The Iron Yard, thank you for taking a risk and helping change the face of education.
Yes, we are sad, but are also so so excited to see what the future holds, both for our students and ourselves.
